BASAL METABOLIC RATE ANALYSIS
The InBody 570 is a body composition analyzer that measures fat, muscle, and water levels in less than a minute. Simply stand on the device and hold the hand electrodes to test.
Safe, low-level currents are sent through the body through the hand and foot electrodes. The impedance the currents encounter is measured, and from there, your body composition is derived.
You can identify and track inflammation, swelling, and even injuries.
Each InBody test prints out a results sheet detailing muscle, fat, and water values, including lean mass and fat values in each segment of the body.
Segmental lean mass analysis identifies how many pounds of lean mass and fat are in each body segment. This helps determine how specific diets and exercises affect body composition.
Go to the Result Sheet Interpretation page for more details.

At PerniaLatifMD I want to change the narrative around obesity by helping patients understand that obesity is a disease just like other diseases and requires a multi faceted treatment approach just like other clinical treatments.
A comprehensive evaluation will include a full medical history followed by blood composition analysis and metabolic testing in clinic. We will also review lab work and rule out other medical reasons for weight gain like thyroid disease/hormonal disorders.
After that patients are asked to bring a food diary to the clinic to discuss current eating habits. After a mutual discussion that takes into account a patient's lifestyle and weight loss goals they may be prescribed FDA approved weight loss medications to facilitate weight loss.
Patients are encouraged to follow up at least monthly. Sometimes an initial two-week follow up is advised in order to monitor for side effects, especially if medication is prescribed.
